Rich Creamy Lasagna
🧺 Ingredients
For the Pasta and Meat:
12 lasagna noodles 🍝
1 1/4 lbs Italian sausage or ground beef
1 (24-oz) jar spaghetti sauce 🍅
2 (8-oz) cans tomato sauce
1 tsp Italian seasoning 🌿
For the Cheese Mixture:
1 (24-oz) container cottage cheese
1 (8-oz) block cream cheese, softened 🧀
1/4 cup sour cream
1 egg, beaten 🥚
🍽️ Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the noodles — Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2️⃣ Prepare the meat sauce — In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage or ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat. Add the spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5–10 minutes to blend the flavors.
3️⃣ Make the creamy cheese filling — In a bowl, combine the cottage cheese, softened cream cheese, sour cream, and beaten egg until smooth and creamy.
4️⃣ Layer the lasagna — In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish:
• Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom
• Add a layer of noodles
• Spread a layer of the cheese mixture
• Repeat layers, finishing with meat sauce on top
5️⃣ Bake — Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until bubbly.
6️⃣ Rest & serve — Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve hot.
